Afghanistan

The Alliance currently operates its Armchair ESL Program and Armchair Development Program in Afghanistan. In partnership with USAID’s Higher Education Project (HEP), the Alliance offers its ESL classes to Afghan women professors in universities throughout Afghanistan, including Kabul University, Kabul Education University, Badakhsan University, Herat University, Faryab University and Kunduz University.

In cooperation with the Afghan Women’s Network (AWN), the Alliance offers its Armchair ESL classes to AWN’s staff members and to high school students who are members of AWN’s Youth Committee. The Alliance works with AWN’s offices in both Kabul, Afghanistan and Peshawar, Pakistan. The Alliance also offers its Armchair Development Program to AWN and assists AWN with research, editing and writing.

The Alliance also partners with Afghan Women Toward Peace (AWP) to provide its Armchair ESL classes to Afghan high school girls in Kabul.
